영광스럽게도 대상을 수상하게 된 세화고 1학년 이동하 입니다. Frankly, I wasn't in the best of moods after finishing the test. 그 이유는, 시험이 끝나고 나서 너무나도 아쉬운 점이 많았던 거였습니다. Although I had taken the test to prove myself to others, I had failed to do my best. 실수를 성찰하며 혼자 시달렸지만, 결국에는 지나간 일은 잊고 넘어가기로 하였습니다. But one Tuesday afternoon brought unexpected relief and joy. 사실상 기대하던 바는 없었던 상황에서, 아무런 상도 아닌 대상을 수상하였다는 소식을 듣고난후 참으로 황홀하였습니다.

저에게 영어 공부법을 묻는다면, 일단 자연스러운 어휘 습득과 독해력의 지름길인 독서입니다. Personally, I've read countless works of literature, my favorite among them being Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. 물론 필요에 따라 문법과 어휘 등을 따로 정리하고 공부할수 있습니다. However, it's ultimately the act of devouring books, not cramming that leads to meaningful growth. 결국 궁극적 목표는 영어를 힘든것이 아니라 생활로 승화시키는 것입니다. For me, English is indistinguishable from myself and my life. 언어마다 다른 언어와 문화에는 존재하지 않는, 소통할수 없는 개념이 담겨 있습니다. It's a bit presumptuous, but I can say with certainty that acquisition of another language expands the way you think, not just your academic horizons. 영어의 기본은 아신다면 오늘은 간단한 책 한 장으로 시작하세요. Today a single page, and tomorrow, untold tomes.

마지막으로 저는 제 소감문을 통해서 응원을 표출하고 싶습니다. For those of you scholars, determined to pursue English, I'm here to tell you it’s not just the scores you should be aiming for. 저에게 언어 숙달의 기준은 문학적 응용력입니다. Only when you can read a poem and write a poem, can you say you've begun to master a language. 비로소 언어를 통해 예술을 접할수 있을때 언어에 대한 숙련도가 쌓이기 시작한 것입니다.
